FRANK

FRANK is not a band named after some male leader but it is the english word : frank, direct that illustrates the music of the french female frontwoman Elise Lounici. The quartet plays a powerful old school Blues-Rock with hints of Chicago Blues and Soul Music. On stage, the songs become rougher, more personal. It’s all about energy and feelings. FRANK was founded in 2021. It is in between lockdowns that Elise Lounici (vocals and guitar) writes and composes the first songs. These times present an opportunity to reconnect with a creation process. A voice, a guitar, an old note book, and that’s it. The result is an organic music that gives way to emotions. Music to share on stage. An outlet. It is with Sébastien Gaschard (drums) that the songs begin to take shape. At first the duet builds its set with Blues and Folk aesthetics throughout a year of rehearsals and busking. The following year they are joined by Colin Pradier (bass). The music then enters a new dimension : a power trio with a definite Blues-Rock sound. From spring 2022, concerts follow one another. The following fall, Elise and Sébastien fulfill a childhood dream and head off on an Irish tour. On this occasion they perform at Monroe’s Tavern in Galway. Upon their return they were offered artistic support by the venue Les Abattoirs in Cognac, followed by two concerts as part of the Cognac Blues Passions Festival. During the summer, a few days before entering the studio, Elise meets blues guitar player Thom Carlton, it’s a true artistic crush. Just out of recording, Colin is replaced by Josselin Fleury on bass. The quartet then wins several music contest. The first album “I’m a Phony and a Fraud” is released in April 2023. On this occasion the band performs in a number of venues (Le Temps Machine, Le Bateau Ivre, Les Abattoirs, La Parenthèse…) and obtain a laudatory review in the famous Rock&Folk magazine. In November, after sharing the stage with bands such as Moundrag, the band is called upon to ensure the opening for Robert Finley (USA) in large venues (the VIP, the Quai M and La Sirène…) as well as opening band for Gaëlle Buswel at L’Accordeur in march 2024.
